"The Aisles of the Vintage Fashion and Textile Show may offer a window into the past, but it also can be a look at the sartorial future. It's here that major design houses come to find inspiration for "new" looks which sometimes become the next big trend. It's also where more and more vintage fans are coming to stock up."

Creating The Younger Generation of
Antique Dealers, Collectors and Educators

Planting seed - inspiration. sometimes we read about the dearth of young dealers and collectors in antiques. But, when you speak with older dealers, collectors and educators you find that most had their interest piqued in their youth.

Since the beginning of the Sturbridge Vintage Fashion and Textile Show 18 years ago, promoter Linda Zukas has offered free admission to students of art, textile conversation, textile design, fashion and related fields hoping to spark an early interest in some of those who might not otherwise be exposed to the are of dealing and learning in these fascinating relics of the past.

Linda Zukas shows are knokwn for the offerings of 150 exhibitors from 22 states and 6 foreign countries with textiles varying from 16th century to 1970's retro.

Each exhibitor is an expert in numberous fields, many have authored bookdealing with their specialties and the large majority are knowledgeable in a variety of categories. This expertise is not available in academia.

Zukas is hopeful more institutions will take advantage of her offer to bring their students to the "Sturbridge Vintage Fashion and Textile Show and School" at the Sturbridge Host Hotel on Rte 20 in Massachusetts. Information (207) 363 1320
